The Swiss Post forwarding order (officially "Change of address with mail forwarding") costs CHF 35.- online for 6 months — CHF 47.- at the counter (as of September 2026). Forwarding abroad is more expensive (e.g. 12 months online CHF 90.-, at the counter CHF 102.-), and additional adults and legal entities are charged extra. Important: Set up the order at least four working days before your move. Shorter notice works as an express order (until 11 p.m. the evening before) — but that costs an extra CHF 10.-, which is easy to avoid when you know your moving date early.

For moves abroad, Swiss Post offers the change of address with mail forwarding only as a 12-month option: CHF 90.- online, CHF 102.- at a branch. The surcharges match the domestic order: CHF 15.- per additional adult or company, CHF 10.- for the express order.

The separate "temporary mail forwarding" offer has two variants: per-item billing (base price CHF 10.- online, plus CHF 8.- per parcel) or the flat rate for letters and parcels together (CHF 25.- online for 2 weeks). Can I have my mail held instead of forwarded?

Yes. "Holding mail" costs CHF 8.- online as a base price for 2 weeks plus CHF 2.- per additional week (a maximum of 24 additional weeks, i.e. 26 weeks in total) — practical if there is a gap between moving out and moving in, or while you are on vacation.

Is every item of mail forwarded?
